Delivering ads into video player - Adcompanion & Adgrouping

Question:

I have a page that has banners and a video player. I am using Openx to deliver ads into the player as well as on the page.

The special mod I need is the ability to do companion ad grouping on this page. Because the ads delivered INTO the player are not technically on the page - and the inside of the player can’t respond to cookie requests - the session cannot be identified by Openx as a companion situation.

So I need a way to send a group of ads to different zones (in the same campaign) together.

Is that enough explanation?

Answer

I got your requirement. As you said and know, banner delivering through player wont have javascript signature so we cant get companion ads in other zones in page through OpenX.

Anyway still we can see feasibility of this with other method (javascript, cookie or db log) and let you know if it’s possible. We need your flash coding through you are displaying ads so we can test and get back you with possibility and time estimation.

Please provide us one example with banner ads in flash player and by normal zone in one page. Also, if you can give us your ftp/db details then we can see functionality of your flash player to fetch banner (through xml or any other way) and analyze and check possibility to make companion position functionality.

Bulk Import Utility for ads in OpenX

Question:

Is there a way to set up a bulk import utility for ads? Say, if I need to input like 500-1000 tags a day, so that it doesn’t take me a million hours?

Answer:

Yes, we can create n number of tags (invocation code) on click of button.

Here What do you mean by tags? I am assuming you are talking about invocation tag (ad code for zone).

We can give one link in each zone page says “Duplicate zone to n times” and it will popup window and it will give one text box and submit button. In text box, you can enter number of duplication of zone (so tags) and clicking on submit, it will make n number of zone with same zone property (including width, height, linked banners, etc) and then you will have n number of tags.

In-Text advertising using OpenX

In-text advertising is all about advertising which is placed inside the text and they come with a double underline to differentiate them from normal links. Once the user rolls the mouse over the link the advertising will pop. Should the user click on it the site owner will make some money.

This method of advertising using this advertisement in news and journalism websites is strongly criticized by journalism companies across the globe.

Using OpenX, it is possible using HTML banner and some techniques using javascript.

Getting it working with iframe invocation all the time has been so challenging.

Sports targeting ads using OpenX

I am trying to target specific forums within my vBulletin site. For example, if my site is all about sports, I have forums including Football, Baseball, Swimming, Basketball, etc. I\’m trying to be able to sell adspace to advertisers who only want to target the Swimming forum. Or, if they so choose, target Swimming & Water Polo. Let me know if you need any further information.

Number Of Active Campaigns For One Zone

Question:
How do identify the number of banners in each campaign?. I want to show total number of banners in each campaigns in admin site.

This feature is not exist in openx. We have developed one plugin for this.
you can to identify the number of active campaigns or banners in tha admin site.
This will provide you a drop down list to select the campaign of a particular advertiser.
This will display the banners probably on your website.
you can see the number of active campaigns or banners for one particular zone.
This is very useful for the administrator, advertiser as well as the publisher.

currently, the openx is not providing the Google map information based on for publisher, advertiser and zone and campaign. But, we can do this requirement and we need to custamization of the openx code.

Max Banner Show Per Hour

Question:
I want to display my banner for a particular number of times in a hour. How do to it?

Answer:
Now, you can set the particular number of times in a hour.

Using this you can fix the particular number of times, for which your banner should be displayed in that particular hour.

This allows to limit the count of banner show per hour.

For an example, it is possible to set a campaign like this: Between 8:00 - 22:00, in every hour, show my banner to the maximum of 400 times.

Thus, this will either limit the number of displays or maximize the number of displays for your banners as you wish.

If you can build a module that detects the email clients viewing our ad impressions, can it be the list in text shown here? Do you know if can break down the clients even further to show Yahoo Classic vs. Yahoo All-New?

Answer:

Yes, we can implement new system which can track email-clients. It can give us easily mail domain like google.com, aol.com and yahoo.com and still we can filter them then we can get deep structure like as you told, yahoo beta, yahoo classic.

(Mail server wont give any value saying that it’s beta or classic but we need to get from url of server only. All trackers will get from urls only.)

We can display one more link image near to each banner/campaigns/advertisers in stats page. Clicking on that image, will give popup which can list out all mail server (including other referrer domain.).

OpenX to handle billion ad impressions per month

Question:

We are planning to show up to 1 billion ad impressions per month.

I’m looking for help in folowing:
1. Understanding which servers we neeed
2. Installation and configuration
3. custom module, lets possibility to set delivery limitations like:

For banner A
USA 100000 impressions per day
Pakistan 1000 impressions per day
Iraq 20000 impressions per day

1. Understanding which servers we need

There is no exact answer for this questions. It depends upon number of parameters like delivery limitation, targeting, which type of banners (swf, image) etc.

You can go for Quad core Xeon E5320 processor with 2 to 4 GB RAM.

2. Installation and configuration

We will install OpenX in your server and we will configure it such that it can deliver banner efficiently. Also, we will set cron job for maintenance script.

3. custom module, lets possibility to set delivery limitations like:

è Yes, we can make this functionality. We will make one module which will allow you(or advertiser) to set this settings in banner property/ delivery limitation page and OpenX will use this targeting info in delivery such that it will not deliver more impressions per day per country then given.
