Serving openx ads through Custom Toolbar

Question:

I have one custom tool bar which will launch ads through openx. I have a place to put urls to be launched in random mode, thrue a javascript that reads the code from openx,this javascript uses keywords technology,that launch url depends of the keyword you type, but this url has to be popunder, fullscreen,renamed. Also, suppose user types “Real-Estate” in google then toolbar should display “Real-estate” based ads as popup. (OpenXServices.com)

Answer

This is nice feature. We can make zones for different category and then link appropriate banners to zone and call this zone if it’s real estate ads you want to display. Here, you have to pass all type of zones url in toolbar coding so toolbar will call appropriate zone by keyword.

Even if we customize openx then we can have only one zone where you just need to pass keyword and zone itself will display related cateogry ads.(OpenXServices.com)

All banners invocation code with active and non active banners

Question:
How do create single invocation code for all linked banners including active banners and non active banners?

Answer:
The publisher can view all the linked banners and he/she can also use these in his/her site to attract other advertisers.

Using this code, the publisher can view all the linked banners and he/she can also use these in his/her site to attract other advertisers.

This will not display the deactivated and expired banners.

Will provide a single invocation code.
Will list only the active and existing banners.
Will display all the linked banners with a single code.
Very useful to the publisher to attract new advertisers.

OpenX Plugin for publisaher to submit URL and returns category

Question:

I do not have many detailed requirements. The goal is to create a OpenX plugin.

The plug-in would do the following:

1) for a publisher, submit a URL to our engine.

2) the return would be a category.

So I see it like this.

PHP Code

Get URL from publisher setup screen in the OpenX Globals, URI?

Send this URL to the J2EE engine. (we would need to either provide you a webservice or something HTTP restful)

The J2EE engine makes it’s determination and return a category (string)

In addition to this flow would be some simple error handling such as service not available and no category match. The PHP code would either populate an open X screen or write the category to the proper place in the data model.

What do you think?

Answer

Yes, we can implement plugins (customization) in page where publisher gives his site url and we will pass it to your J2EE Engine (which should give category string by REST or XML-RPC method) and we will show matched category in category dropdown otherwise we will show “Currently this service is not available.”.

You need to make REST or XML-RPC access method for J2EE engine so we can use that webservice to get category.

Our code implementation will take 1 day.

Hide website names for Advertiser

Question:
How do disable website names for advertiser in openx?

Answer:
This will provide the functionality which will hide the publisher website names in advertiser side.
By installing this mod, administrator can check the option to hide the website names for a particular advertiser.

If the hiding option is checked for an advertiser by admin, then that advertiser will not be able to see the website names by any means.

Hide Past Inactive Campaigns in openx

Question:
How do hide the past inactive campaign in openx?

Answer:
This feature is not exist in the openx. we have plugin for this.

This allows to hide those campaigns which are expired, (past inactive campaigns) in campaign overview page.

This will not hide campaigns which will be activated in future.

For example, if Advertiser has a campaign set to active tomorrow, and now if the Advertiser clicks on hide inactive campaigns link, it will hide all inactive campaigns from view.

It means it will hide campaigns which will be activated in future also. (And this is what most advertisers don’t want because he want to manage all current campaign and future campaigns)

So, this will help for such kind of Advertisers.

They could see all active campaigns and all future campaigns also, so that Advertiser will find it easy-to-manage active campaigns in their current view.

Send Mail Before Campaign Is Deactivated in openx

Question:
How do set the remainder for before my banner or campaign is expiring?

Answer:
This feature is not exist in openx. but, we provide plugin for this.

This sends an email to the advertiser before the end of its banner display or campaign.

This informs advertiser banner or campaign expiration.

Thus, it helps the advertiser to plan for the next banner or try to display the same banner.

Gives a mail to the advertiser before the expiration of the banner or campaign.

Helps the advertiser in planing well ahead. The advertiser will be able to know the clear position of his banners.

It is very useful for the advertiser.

Monitoring Thirdy Party AdPerformance

Question:

If you can build a module that detects the email clients viewing our ad impressions, can it be the list in text shown here? Do you know if can break down the clients even further to show Yahoo Classic vs. Yahoo All-New?

Answer:

Yes, we can implement new system which can track email-clients. It can give us easily mail domain like google.com, aol.com and yahoo.com and still we can filter them then we can get deep structure like as you told, yahoo beta, yahoo classic.

(Mail server wont give any value saying that it’s beta or classic but we need to get from url of server only. All trackers will get from urls only.)

We can display one more link image near to each banner/campaigns/advertisers in stats page. Clicking on that image, will give popup which can list out all mail server (including other referrer domain.).

How do search country basis or city basis in admin side?

If there are bulk of advertisers and publishers, this provides a great filtering of advertisers and publishers based on some criteria.

This is very convenient to admin. It will save administrator’s valuable time.

OpenX to handle billion ad impressions per month

Question:

We are planning to show up to 1 billion ad impressions per month.

I’m looking for help in folowing:
1. Understanding which servers we neeed
2. Installation and configuration
3. custom module, lets possibility to set delivery limitations like:

For banner A
USA 100000 impressions per day
Pakistan 1000 impressions per day
Iraq 20000 impressions per day

Answer:

1. Understanding which servers we need

There is no exact answer for this questions. It depends upon number of parameters like delivery limitation, targeting, which type of banners (swf, image) etc.

You can go for Quad core Xeon E5320 processor with 2 to 4 GB RAM.

2. Installation and configuration

We will install OpenX in your server and we will configure it such that it can deliver banner efficiently. Also, we will set cron job for maintenance script.

3. custom module, lets possibility to set delivery limitations like:

è Yes, we can make this functionality. We will make one module which will allow you(or advertiser) to set this settings in banner property/ delivery limitation page and OpenX will use this targeting info in delivery such that it will not deliver more impressions per day per country then given.

Implementation of this functionality will take 2 to 3 days.

admin can understand about banner delivery easily
