I have experimented a little bit with OpenX and in my opinion the functions you can use to configure advertisment and ad space to display ads is too much for a casual advertiser/ publisher, it’s very complicated.
Do your mods simplify those doings singnificant?
My goal is to setup my own ‘OpenX monetization platform’ and to use the OpenX marketplace to connenct publishers and advertisers to make revenue!
For me it is actually not clear how to deduct the ‘cut’ within the OpenX system.
I hava also thought to implement a option for signup bonus and a afilliate program. Can this be done with OpenX?

I am looking to build out an OPENX Ad serving environment that can handle 300,000,000 impressions per day. We want the solution to be US based with physical load balancing accorss 3 data centers (east coast, Central, West coast). We have lots of hardware and are willing to commit resources to this project. We want to start with an OPEN X solution that has behavioral and contextual capabilities. We want to later switch to MSSQL or oracle for the DB to take advantage of triggers and stored procedures.

I have been trying to run a popunder, and I have found out I need a special zone type tag, however this is not active in my system, I only have the four options, Satandard, Text, Email and Interstital. How can I activate the popup zone type?

·Login as administrator. Go to Configuration Plugins
·Click on the link “details” for openXInvocationTags.
·Click on the “Settings” link at the bottom right corner.
·There you will find oxInvocationTags Configuration settings.
·You can enable/ disable the invocation code whichever you want and save changes.
·Once you enable the pop up type, you will be able to see the pop up type in zone properties page.
I had my host/programmer install this program but haven’t moved forward implementing it. I don’t have a clue what to charge, and I haven’t created a page with rates or giving potential advertisers the ability to actually sign up. I need help especially determining rates.

i m building a webplayer using flex and i want to server video ads(pre-mid-overlay) using openX. I don;t want to use flowplayer. We can customize the Openx to play the Ads in any of the player.
The requirement from your end is, if you are able to provide the XML format from which your player can read the play list, then we can customize the Openx to generate the similar XML format that your player can read to display the ads.

can we be able to create geo report as per advertiser requirements on campaign side.

Currently, we don’t have any geo targeting functionality in openx as openx does not know user profile data. we need to some customization in openx code. You can do this by geo targeting in openx but it wont give good UI in campaign side.

I was looking into OpenX and have decided to use it as the ad-server for my own portal site, however as you would know it lacks the billing and client set up features that are automatic, rather its interface is more of the administrator sets up all information which does not suit my needs.

From that budget they can pick whatever packages they want (might be pay per view, pay per click etc) and it just takes the amount from the budget as they go, once the budget is gone, the campaigns (which they set up) are de-activated, until they top up their account, and then they can choose to activate them, or delete them, which ever they like.
It would be nice to also allow for some more advanced packages, so for example i could offer a country specific package, that limits delivery (based on maxmind) to a specific country, rather than just displaying banners to everyone. In addition being able to pull demographic information from my site, eg advertise to logged in males, females, specific browser / OS type would be very useful. But basically I want to system to be automatic in that the client signs up, enters their information, uploads banners, sets up their own campaigns, with the limitation settings (delivery limitations) and can get their advertising needs going right away, there would be numerous zones across the site, a software program I am working on, and possibly in the future iphone apps, however there is only one site, so I would not have lots of publishers that I need to worry about, there is only one publisher (myself) and from there I want to accept advertisers to run campaigns and self manage everything including their budget.
Email reports would be a nice feature for the clients, so they can see how their campaigns are going, and get statistics, but really self management is most important (payment gateway would be paypal)

à We can have the advertiser sign up module. At the time of sign up advertiser will be able to deposit the money in his account.
We will integrate the PayPal for the payment processing.
Advertiser can refill his account in future. Advertiser will be able to create campaign/ banners and he will have to choose some package for his campaign.
Packages will be added by admin. The packages will contain cost of clicks/impressions. Country limitations feature also can be added in packages.
In such packages advertiser will be able to set the countries for which he wants to target his ad.
As the campaign will run the amount will be deducted from the advertiser account. Once the advertiser account balance comes to zero, all the campaigns will be deactivated.
Advertiser will be able to activate the campaigns after refilling his account. And he will be able to delete his campaign also.

How do hide the past inactive campaign in openx?

This feature is not exist in the openx. we have plugin for this.
This allows to hide those campaigns which are expired, (past inactive campaigns) in campaign overview page.
This will not hide campaigns which will be activated in future.
For example, if Advertiser has a campaign set to active tomorrow, and now if the Advertiser clicks on hide inactive campaigns link, it will hide all inactive campaigns from view.
It means it will hide campaigns which will be activated in future also. (And this is what most advertisers don’t want because he want to manage all current campaign and future campaigns)
So, this will help for such kind of Advertisers.
They could see all active campaigns and all future campaigns also, so that Advertiser will find it easy-to-manage active campaigns in their current view.
